Hostess: “Would you like for me to call you when your table is ready?”
Me: “You can do that?”
Hostess: “I own a cell phone.”
Why doesn’t everyone do that?! Especially in the Bishop Arts District–it should be required. There was a little art-fest going on in the Oddfellows parking lot. I wanted to go in the big green vintage clothing bus. And NOW I COULD!
But even BEYOND the greatness of having Oddfellows call me to tell me my table was indeed ready, was the food. Yes, it was as good as everyone raves. The Texas Poutine was the best thing I’ve put in my mouth in a month of Sundays. Their version is pretty basic–it’s cheese fries with bacon, gravy and jalapenos. Yum. Do NOT look up how many calories it has on MyFitnessPal, you do not want to know.
Also had the red velvet pancakes and the duck hash. The duck hash isn’t really hash which disappointed me. It was fried potatoes with duck medallions on it. And I should have remembered to ask for my egg fried hard. Other than that is was a win win (I accidentally typed sin sin which would have also been appropriate).
For the after breakfast appetizer (because someone gave up dessert for Lint–I’m looking at you L-dog) we had the beignets.
Cute place, great great great service and dang good food. It’s what you would expect from a new place that really wants to make it in the Bishop Arts District. I will be going back super soon to get some mac’n’cheese and a fried green tomoato sandwich and a chocolate croissant and some cheese grits.
